日本には、多くの伝統工芸が残っています。しかし、単純に昔のままでは現代の生活に活かされません。技術や精神を受け継ぎ、現代に伝え直すことが最も重要だ考えています。作り手だけでなく、販売をする伝え手、それを使用する使い手とともに、日本に元来育まれた文化を「物」を通して見直すきっかけになればと思います。続いてきたことの芯をぶらさずに、世の中の変化に対応しながらしっかりと継承する。それが伝統です。JIGUは100年後、この芯が残っているように未来を想像しながら物をつくるプロジェクトです。伝統の未来を想像する
Imagining the future,
and forming tradition
Japanese traditional crafts are known for its long history. However, using them in modern life in its original form can be a challenge. We believe, it is essential to reinterpret the technique and philosophy into the modern context, without changing the essence of tradition. It is a chance, not only for the maker, but the seller and the user, to rediscover the culture Japan has cultivated. JIGU imagines the next hundred years, and creates products that will hopefully shape a sustainable future of tradition.
